Combating Identity Theft To Save Your Refunds

IRS is continuing to face identity theft challenges even though extra scrutiny had been taken in fighting for the problem.

My mother-in-law received a text message last week stating she had been filed a lawsuit by IRS and told her to contact a certain number for further information. This is a typical scam on how they will get your personal information and then to transfer the refund to their account.

IRS would never text individual nor call them to ask for personal information. All communication is sent through mail with notice number and important tax information in the letter.
